Personnel Changes in St. Mary's Public Schools


LEONARDTOWN, Md.—Several administrative appointments were made by the St. Mary's County Board of Education at its meeting of June 13. These appointments and transfers became effective July 1, 2012.

The Board appointed Ms. Adrianne Mathis to the position of Assistant Principal I at Spring Ridge Middle School. Ms. Mathis, who is currently a 4th grade teacher at the Chesapeake Public Charter School, joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in August 2001 as an English teacher at Leonardtown Middle School. Prior to joining St. Mary's County Public Schools, Ms. Mathis also served as an elementary teacher and instructional reading specialist with Calvert County Public Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State University and her Master's of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame.

The Board also appointed Ms. Lisa Johnson to the position of Assistant Principal II at Chopticon High School. Ms. Johnson, who is currently an Assistant Principal at Surrattsville High School, joined Prince George's County Public Schools in August 1998 as a Social Studies teacher at Surrattsville High School. Ms. Johnson has also served as an Assistant Principal at Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School in Prince George's County. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Washington and Jefferson College and her Master's of Arts in Teaching from Bowie State University.

The Board also approved transfers of Assistant Principals for the 2012-2013 school year. Mr. Joshua Lynch will transfer to Evergreen Elementary School as Assistant Principal. Ms. Amina Fola-Rose will transfer to Margaret Brent Middle School as Assistant Principal. Dr. Laura Carpenter will transfer to Dynard Elementary School as Assistant Principal.
