Route 301 Resurfacing Project Began April 11

Beginning Thursday, April 11 the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface more than two miles of northbound US Route 301 (Crain Highway). The work will take place from Fairgrounds Road to MD Route 6 (Charles Street) in Charles County. Weather permitting, the work is expected to last up to three weeks.

Work includes milling, resurfacing and restriping the roadway. Crews are permitted to close a single lane Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to business entrances and side streets will be maintained during the work. Motorists traveling through the work zone are urged to reduce speed and be alert for vehicles entering and exiting the highway. An average of 24,000 vehicles travels this section of US Route 301 each day so drivers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time.

This project is funded under a $5 million "area wide" resurfacing contract awarded to Bardon/Aggregate Industries of Greenbelt.
