Collision in Fort Washington Claims Life of Newburg Man


P.G. COUNTY, Md. (May 6, 2014)—The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Fort Washington. The victim is identified as 27-year-old Cody Lowry of Cobb Island Road in Newburg, Charles County.

On Monday, May 5, at about 2:35 am, patrol officers were called to the 11400 block of Indian Head Highway for the report of a crash involving two cars. Lowry was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation reveals the Lowry was driving a BMW northbound on Indian Head Highway. A Cadillac was traveling southbound on Indian Head Highway when, for reasons which remain unclear, the driver lost control. The Cadillac crossed into the northbound lane and struck the BMW head on. The driver of the Cadillac was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
