MSP Reports for St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 12, 2014)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT: On Sunday, April 20 at 9:01 pm, Tpr. B. Weber was responding to a robbery at the CVS in Leonardtown. While en route, Tpr. Weber observed the suspect's vehicle traveling on Rt. 245 at Leonard Hall Drive and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. A black pistol style taser was observed in the vehicle, and the driver, Robert Jesse Hayden, 45, of Leonardtown, was placed under arrest. Tpr. Weber made contact with the victims, who advised that Mr. Hayden had pointed the taser at them several times. Mr. Hayden was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged with First Degree Assault and Second Degree assault and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-010703)

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, April 25 at 8:12 pm, TFC S. Ditoto initiated a traffic stop on a silver passenger car on Route 5 and Old Village Road for a minor traffic infraction. A probable cause search of the vehicle and occupant was conducted, resulting in the recovery of CDS. The driver, Donald Ronald Polz, 36, of La Plata, was arrested and charged with CDS: Possession - Marijuana. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing and later released. (14-MSP-011175)

ASSAULT: On Saturday, April 26 at 5:47 pm, TFC. W. Couter responded to the 27000 block of Lyard Road in Park Hall for a domestic disturbance. During an argument, a 17 year old juvenile pointed a knife towards the victim. The juvenile was arrested, charged and released into the custody of a parent. (14-MSP-011359)

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, April 27 at 1:53 pm, Senior Trooper E. Evans responded to Rt. 235 at Maple Road for a disabled vehicle. Senior Trooper Evans observed a female, identified as Dana Marie Royster, 30, of Waldorf standing next to the vehicle. While speaking with Ms. Royster, he observed her drop a metal pipe to the ground. Senior Trooper Evans retrieved the pipe and observed suspected CDS residue. Ms. Royster was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS Not Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-011413)

DRUG ARREST: On Tuesday, April 29 at 9:12 am, Tpr A. Oyler initiated a traffic stop on a red passenger car on Route 5 and Mechanicsville Road. The driver, Tabitha Marie Francis, 26, of Lexington Park, was arrested for Driving While Suspended. A search of her purse revealed suspected CDS. Ms. Francis was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with Possession of CDS Not Marijuana and several traffic citations. She was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-011634)

MDOP: On Thursday, May 1 at 2:11 am, TFC R. Jackson responded to the 48000 block of Trapp Road in Saint Inigoes for a reported malicious destruction of property. After further investigation, James Cody Alan Finchen, 23, of St. Inigoes, was arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-011875)

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, May 1 at 3:08 pm, TFC D. Buckalew initiated a traffic stop on a black passenger car on Rt. 5 and Mechanicsville Road for a minor traffic infraction. Tpr. Buckalew observed CDS in plain view in the vehicle. The driver, a 17 year old juvenile of Mechanicsville, was arrested and charged with Possession of CDS Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack for processing and released into the custody of a parent. (14-MSP-011937)

DUI/DRUG ARREST: On Friday, May 2 at 4:21 pm, TFC D. Buckalew and Sgt. M. Laney responded to the Callaway Car Wash for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located inside one of the wash bays. Sgt. Laney approached the vehicle and determined that it was running and observed a subject leaning out of the driver's side door vomiting. When the subject observed Sgt. Laney approaching the vehicle, he turned the vehicle off and threw the keys to the passenger side vehicle. While looking into the vehicle, TFC Buckalew observed suspected CDS in the vehicle. The subject, Patrick Allen Churchwell, 28, of Great Mills, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of CDS Marijuana, and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-012091)

DRUG/TRAFFIC ARREST: On Saturday, May 3 at 3:47 pm, TFC D. Buckalew initiated a traffic stop on a white passenger car for a minor traffic infraction. TFC Buckalew made contact with the driver, Michael Laron Epps, 28, of Great Mills, and observed loose suspected CDS on his shirt. Mr. Epps was placed under arrest for Driving While Suspended. A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the recovery of more loose suspected CDS. Mr. Epps was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center, where he was charged with numerous traffic offenses and Possession of CDS Marijuana. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-012252)
