Hollywood Man Charged with Setting Fire to His RV


ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. – On September 10 around 2:30 p.m., the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office served Carl Knott, age 57, with a criminal summons for Malicious Burning, Second Degree. The charges stem from a fire on Saturday, September 6 around 7:55 pm. Approximately 20 firefighters responded to the area of Jetson Lane and Brown Road in Hollywood for a reported vehicle fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the RV camper fire within five minutes.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office responded to the scene and determined the fire to have been intentionally set. Subsequent investigation determined the owner, Carl Knott, intentionally set his RV camper on fire. Damages to the property were estimated to be $1,000.

If convicted, Knott could face up to 18 months of imprisonment and/or $500 in fines.
