MSP Reports for St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 30, 2014)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT ON POLICE: On Tuesday, October 28, at 1:35 am, Tpr. C. Ruth initiated a traffic stop on a silver van for a minor traffic violation. The driver, Lisa Marie Murphy, 51, of Chesapeake, VA, was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported to the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. At the barrack, Ms. Murphy became extremely combative and attempted to strike Tpr. Ruth with a closed fist. Murphy then elbowed and kicked Tpr Ruth. She was restrained and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center, where suspected CDS was recovered from her belongings. Ms. Murphy was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Second Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, CDS Possession - Not Marijuana, and CDS Possession - Paraphernalia. She was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-035501)

CHILD ABUSE, ASSAULT: On Tuesday, October 28, at 2:39 pm, Tpr. A. Oyler responded to the 15000 block of Point Lookout Road for the report of a domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed that Daniel B. Evans, 27, of St. Inigoes, had struck a 5 year old male victim in the face and then grabbed him by the neck to strangle him. Evans then struck a 27 year old female victim who attempted to intervene. He subsequently began throwing furniture and broke a plastic chair. Mr. Evans was arrested for Second Degree Child Abuse, two counts of Second Degree Assault, and Malicious Destruction of Property. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (14-MSP-035566)
