MSP Reports for Calvert Co.


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (June 23, 2015)—The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

VEHICLE CRASH: On June 17 at approximately 5:08 p.m., a Jeep SUV operated by Janae Gatchell, of Indian Head, Charles County, was traveling eastbound on MD Rt 231 W/O Sixes Rd in Calvert Co. For unknown reasons, the Jeep crossed the center line and collided off-set head-on with a GMC Sierra operated by Barbara Shields, of Tracys Landing, Anne Arundel County, and occupied by Thomas Rymer, of Chesapeake Beach, Calvert County. After the collision, the GMC traveled off the eastbound side of the roadway and collided with a wooden fence and came to a final rest in a small wooded area. The Jeep then collided/sideswiped a Honda Civic operated by Matthew Cumers, of Lusby, Calvert County. The Honda Civic was traveling directly behind the GMC Sierra. After this collision, the Jeep rolled and the operator was ejected. The Jeep came to a final rest in a ditch on the eastbound side of the road. Ms. Gatchell, the operator of the Jeep was transported to Prince George's Hospital by MSP Trooper 7. The occupants of the GMC were transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rymer was released from the hospital.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6/17/2015 at 1:17 am, Trooper First Class Newcomer stopped a vehicle on Rt. 260 near Saint Andrews Dr. in Chesapeake Beach for traffic violations. An odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed a hand rolled cigarette containing suspected marijuana. The passenger, Vincent J. Bales, 18 of Crofton, took responsibility for the cigarette and was issued a civil citation for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana. He was released from the scene.

DUI, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6/18/2015 at 10:55 pm, Trooper First Class Palumbo stopped a vehicle on Rt. 231 and Yardley Dr. in Prince Frederick. The driver, Andrew K. Eaton, 20 of Huntingtown, was determined to be driving under the influence. He was arrested and transported to MSP Barrack in Prince Frederick for processing. The passenger, Scott P. Marcos, 18 of Lusby, was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was released from the scene after being issued a civil citation for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 6/19/2015 at 12:26 am, Trooper Rucker stopped a vehicle on Broomes Island Rd. near Christ Church for traffic violations. A distinct odor of marijuana was emitting from inside the vehicle. Nichole E. Miles, 20 of Port Republic, was arrested for possession of marijuana. She was issued a civil citation for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana and was released from the scene.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On 6/20/2015 at 9:27 am, Trooper Jones responded to a residence in the 700 block of Plum Point Rd. for a destruction of property complaint. Unknown suspect(s) drove a vehicle onto the victim's property causing damage to the lawn. Investigation continues.

THEFT, POSSESSION OF HEROIN: On 6/21/2015 at 10:56 am, Trooper Warrick responded to the 3800 block of Chesapeake Beach for a reported theft in progress. Timothy W. Perkins, 26 of Chesapeake Beach, was located in possession of the stolen lawn mower. It was returned to the owner. While questioning Perkins, he advised that there was a syringe in his pocket. He was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center for theft less than $1000 and possession of heroin.
