BALTIMORE (April 4, 2016)—A Prince Frederick woman who has used a lucky numbers book for years to help select Maryland Lottery game numbers saw her play style pay off big last week. The Calvert County resident matched all five Bonus Match 5 numbers in the March 31 drawing to win the game's $50,000 top prize.

Her good fortune didn't stop there, either. The 55-year-old also won $30 on another line of numbers on the same ticket she bought at Good Day Market in Prince Frederick.

"I've been playing for a while, so this was a big surprise," said the lucky lady, who took a trip to Lottery headquarters with her son by her side to claim her prize. "I checked my tickets online and couldn't believe it when I saw the numbers all matched."

The avid Bonus Match 5 player is going to spend her winnings wisely. In addition to saving for retirement, the program analyst plans on sharing the windfall with some family members and donating to her church.

Good Day Market, located at 1701 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick, also wins. For selling the top prize ticket in the game, the retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from 1 to 39. The Bonus Ball drawn from the remaining 34 numbers provides extra chances to win. Your ticket is a winner if you match five, four or three of the original five winning numbers selected in the drawing. If you match the Bonus Ball number, you only need to match four, three or two of your original numbers to win.
