Mechanicsville Woman Killed in 2 Vehicle Crash in Chas. Co.

LA PLATA, Md. (Nov. 26, 2016)—A 2 vehicle crash on Thursday, November 24 at 6:30 p.m., involved four people, one of whom died as a result of injuries received.

Police investigators determined that the driver of a Chevy Equinox failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn from westbound Billingsley Road onto southbound St. Charles Parkway. Her vehicle was struck by a Mercedes which was traveling east on Billingsley Road.

Three people in the Equinox were seriously injured: The driver—a 46-year-old woman, and a front seat passenger—were flown to a hospital where the passenger, Sherry Lynn Bunnell, 46, of Mechanicsville, died the following day. A woman in the backseat of the Equinox was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the Mercedes, a 43-year-old male from Waldorf, was treated on the scene.

Cpl. B. Saunders Charles Co. Sheriff's Office Traffic Operations Unit is continuing the investigation.
