John Anthony Cardello, 74, of Mechanicsville, Md. passed away due to cardiac arrest on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his home.

He was born on January 6, 1946 to the late John Francis Cardello and Marie Edna (Rodriguez) Cardello.

John was married to Pauline Isabelle Cardello; together they have celebrated over 53 years of marriage and expanded their family with three loving and kind children, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

An adventurous, fun-loving, charismatic, and inspiring man, John served his country honorably in the United States Navy then began a career as a firefighter for Prince George's County, Maryland. He cared for his community and felt it was an honor to protect and serve his fellow citizens. He made many wonderful friends throughout his career and he considered them family.

He was an avid golfer and a day spent on a golf course brought him peace while he putted around the greens. He was a talented, award-winning waterfowl carver and enjoyed constructing and flying model airplanes. John was a member of The Ward Brothers Foundation and Ducks Unlimited.

Whether you knew him as John, Dad, Pop, or a friend he made a long-lasting impact on anyone who met him.

John is survived by his wife, Pauline Cardello of Mechanicsville, MD; children, Joseph Anthony Cardello (Julie) of Fredericksburg, VA, Jeffrey Francis Cardello (Jessica) of Hollywood, MD and Michelle Ann Chandler of Bowie, MD; twelve grandchildren; and two (2) great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Michael John Cardello (Denise) of Mims, FL; many other family members and numerous friends. John was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for John at a later date. Interment will be private.
