John Marshall Schercinger, 86, of Huntingtown passed away February 21, 2024. He was born March 7, 1937 in Bethesda to John H. and Adele (Lewis) Schercinger. John grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Reamy on February 13, 1960 and they lived in Prince George's County until moving to Huntingtown in 1976. John was drafted into the United States Army Reserves in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He worked for the American Association of American Railroads as a safety officer for many years and was an integral part of Operation Lifesaver. John was a faithful member of Huntingtown United Methodist Church since 1976 and was an active member of various civic organizations throughout the years. John enjoyed genealogy, sports, sports trivia, duck carving, bowling, and serving others.

John is survived by his wife Mary Anne Schercinger, children Kathy Wood and her partner Rudy Blalock of Goldsboro, NC and Kelly McKenny and her husband Joey of Huntingtown, grandchildren Lauren and Alyssa Wood and Collin and Cameryn McKenny, great-grandson Gage Richter, and niece Debbie Mould and her husband Jim of Moneta, VA.
