Charles Leroy Fowler
July 14, 1944 - January 6, 2026 Charles Leroy Fowler, Sr., of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, passed away on January 6, 2026, while surrounded by the love of his family. He was 81 years old. Born on July 14, 1944, Charles was the beloved son of the late Victor and Ruth Fowler. After earning his high school diploma, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Charles continued a life of dedication and service to others as a firefighter with the District of Columbia Fire Department, a role he held with great pride. Charles later married the love of his life, F. Leona Fowler, and together they built a family and a lifetime of memories, welcoming three children. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Charles found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. He also enjoyed collecting coins, working in his yard, gambling, and staying busy with projects around the home. Charles will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Leona; his son, Charles Fowler Jr. (Robin) of Sunrall, Mississippi; his daughters, Christina Persing (Jason) of Nanjemoy, Maryland, and Melissa Lea (Roy) of La Plata, Maryland. He is also survived by four cherished grandchildren: Jace Persing, Evan Lea, Bailey Lea, and Alyssa Fowler. In addition, he leaves behind his sister, Patricia Beavers of Prince Frederick, Maryland, and his sister-in-law, Nancy Fowler of Rockville, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ruth Fowler; his brother, Robert Fowler; and his brother-in-law, Butch Beavers. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Charles's life on Tuesday, January 13, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, located at 30195 Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., led by Reverend Joe Orlando. Charles will be laid to rest at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at a later date. His legacy of service, love, and devotion to family will be remembered always by those who knew and loved him.
