Catherine B. Dorsey, 103, was born on July 7, 1922, in Leonardtown, MD to the late James Rhody Barnes and Alice Gertrude Potete Barnes. She died on March 2, 2026, at the Angels Heart Assisted Living Home in Charles County, MD.
Catherine received her education from the St. Mary's County public school system. She exhibited a strong work ethic and took pride in her career as a civil service civilian at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station honorably retiring after many years of dedicated service. Catherine was the devoted wife of the late Flaunt Leroy Dorsey whom she married on October 5, 1957. She treasured spending time with loved ones at family reunions, birthday celebrations, holidays, and cookouts. During her earlier years at CASA Assisted Living, she was a strong advocate for herself and was adamant about receiving her McDonalds quarter pounder, apple pie, diet coke on a weekly basis and crab cake dinner on her birthday. Catherine was a woman of Catholic faith and enjoyed fellowship at Our Lady's Church at Medley's Neck. During her residency with CASA Assisted Living and Angels Heart Assisted Living, she enjoyed in-home services with a Chaplain regularly. Catherine is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Proceeding Catherine are four brothers, Andrew Barnes, William R. Barnes, Sr., Francis Barnes, and Peter C. Barnes and four sisters, Christine Edwards, Mary Nettie Greene, Gertrude Johnson, and Alice Veronica Moreland. Catherine was a loving, caring, and giving wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed dearly, but her memory will live on through those who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in Our Lady's at Medley's Neck Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD. Where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joe Cwik officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rudolph Greene, Lester J Barnes, Sr., Michael Herndon, Sherman Woodland, Ronald Clark, and James Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers William R. Barnes, Jr., Earl Dorsey, Mark Lurinksy, and Bernis Dorsey.
