Marnette Elise Briscoe, 69, beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully on the evening of October 5, 2007, from an illness. She was surrounded by family, loved ones, and friends.

Born April 21, 1938 in Piney Point, MD, she was the daughter of Joseph Briscoe and Katie Ann Gross Briscoe.

Marnette, affectionately known as Mother Briscoe was truly a Christian that believed in God who adored and followed her Jesus. She was a Minister of the "Love Outreach Ministry" and supported the Southern Maryland Chapter of the "Aglow International". Mother Briscoe on a hourly and daily basis willingly encouraged and prayed with family, church members, friends, and strangers to not give up on their current circumstances, but to put their trust in the Lord and wait while God worked things out.

She graduated from Carver Givens High School in Ridge, MD. Mother Briscoe's employment included several domestic positions which led her to employment at the Harry Lundenberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, MD where she retired after 26 years of faithful service.

She leaves behind her six children, Janice Warren of Waldorf, MD, Ernest Briscoe of Lexington Park, MD, Patsy Mason of Atlanta, GA, Calvin Briscoe of Savannah, GA, Henry Briscoe and Pamela Herbert, both of Lexington Park, MD, three sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, twenty- three grandchildren, nineteen great grand children, four sisters, Dorothy Sutton of Washington, DC, Mauline Jordan of Drayden, MD, Pauline Briscoe of Lexington Park, MD, Inez Mosley of California, MD, a very special friend, a dear sister in Christ and a loving host of family, friends and numerous members of the extended family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Marvin "Jelly Roll" Briscoe and her siblings, Marie Briscoe, Catherine Dickens, Delores Briscoe, Mary Travers, Eugene Briscoe, Clarence Briscoe, Roland Briscoe, George Briscoe and Joseph Briscoe.

Mother Briscoe will be greatly missed; she truly exemplified the love of the Lord by way of all the lives she touched. Look out Heaven, here she comes!
